A little while ago, we’ve discussed the possibilities of how to store your leather in your workshop. But designing a workshop doesn’t end there. What else should we think about…
Tools
Over time I’ve collected quite an amount of tools. For now, I’ve stored it actually in the very bag I made when I started out almost 2 years ago. I bought a bag of leather scraps and this piece of pigskin was large enough to store all my tools at that time… I think I had three or four…
Time for a solution, what possibilities are there to store your tools? As usual, I collected some Pinterest images for you.
Cutting slabs
If you don’t have room for a clicker press or no dies for every piece you can imagine, then you will need some sort of cutting mat, slab or board. Now I use those we’ll know green ”self-healing” cutting mats but on Pinterest and Instagram have seen some mouth-watering solutions. They are especially handy if you cutting mat is too small…
Rivets, rivets presses, and stamping machines
In a previous post, I already bought a solution for those tiny little parts of the rivets in different colors and sizes… So this big box does need some space and it is already full so I should think of a solution to extend my collection in the future with another one maybe.
Also, my two presses, the Kingsley, and my rivet press do need some room where I can access it easily. For the Kingsley press, I’ve got also different fonts and sizes stored in those beautifully original wooden boxes.
Dyes, thread, and other small items
I am not sure how to store these little items. My edge paints, dyes, and finishes all come in different size bottles… Do I want to rebottle them for a prettier look? Or keep them in their original packaging?
For the thread department, I see a lot of examples for the whole spool of thread. Since I use tiger thread in multiple colors, for just a few projects it is too expensive to buy whole spools. I might buy those in the future but for now, I buy them per 20-30 meters. Other small items, like the glue containers, rulers, bulldog clips, etcetera, also are in need of space… but how do I keep it organized ánd pretty?
What do you think of all those questions, solutions and options…? Look forward to discussing this matter with you! And ofcourse stay tuned for new updates on leather projects but also on the mini-workshop-updates. For more leather workshop and storage ideas, don’t forget to follow my Pinterest board!
