Today a short post with a little inside into the near-future posts on Florine Leather and Style. In almost all countries over the world, you can read up into the cultural history of leather craft. But here in America, there is a lot to catch up with! And so much for me to learn about! I almost don’t know where to start so I made a little ‘wish-to-learn-about’ list… In the next few weeks, I will try to learn as much as possible about the different American leathercraft styles and cover them in a post.
- Native American Leathercraft
- Tooling & carving (a big thing in America apparently)
- Weaving & Braiding –> already covered some of the weaving in this post but there is more!
- Western American Leathercraft
- Maybe some inspiration from sports accessories like baseballs/rugby/football?
- Probably a lot more… (any tips on topics I should definitely cover?)
History
I also wanted to write a piece on the history of the American leathercraft but as you can imagine, in as such a large country, there are many stories to tell. The history of leathercraft dates back quite far I think you can write a book or two about it so I will cover some little pieces of the history and the, for me and hopefully you, interesting parts of it.
Ladylike leathercraft?
Correct me if I’m wrong but I get the idea there is a large male-community for leathercraft in America… but what about you ladies? Where do you find your information on the ladylike leathercraft? What about amazing fringe bags, charming and comfortable moccasins, and modern braiding? I will try to give the informative posts a feminine touch as you are used to at Florine Leather and Style.
The inspiration for DIYs!
Even though I can’t actually make the DIYs at the moment, due to lack of tools/a workplace/even transport haha. I am soacking up many ideas to bring home with me. So even though it might take a little bit longer who know’s which DIYs will follow in the future!?
Topics I should definitely cover? Send me an email to florine[at]florineleatherandstyle.com, a comment below or send a message on Facebook/Instagram and I would be happy to take them into account.
