As you could have read in my last ‘Learning from the Masters’ post (it’s here if you missed it), I am completely mad about Fred de la Bretoniere. A Dutch Designer with amazing bags (in my opinion). And since my friends’ Birthday was yesterday I had to finish this project Birthday Bag real fast (but not without the best care and the best of my capability of course).
A special dust bag for a special bag
Personally, I am really proud of the look and the finished product. And as promised I would make a DIY dust bag for each of my future projects. Since I wanted to match the roughness of the leather I made a special dust bag with my logo on it. Don’t you love the rough look of the wool dust bag?
Secret project arriving soon (I hope)
I have something to admit. I wanted to brand my bags with my own logo much earlier but there is something in de make to apply it to ALL of my leather products!! AND I CAN’T WAIT TO SHOW IT TO YOU!!! But right now I just have to wait a little longer but once my secret project has arrived you will be the first to know. If you follow me on Instagram you might even see it a little bit earlier but one day I will make a post about it.
Back to the Fred de la Bretoniere Inspired Birthday Bag
But let’s get back to the Fred de la Bretoniere Inspired Birthday Bag. If you have read some of my other project posts you will have noticed that I will always challenge myself to try new things. This time it was a blindfolded edge and a squared bottom. To give it also a little bit more body I looked at the designs of Fred and saw that the side pieces were the reinforcement on his designs.
To conclude the designs of Fred do look simple and elegant. Even with rough leather like mine, wouldn’t it? But they also have many details when you look closely at it. I have learned a lot and can’t wait for the next master to take under the loop to learn much and much more techniques.
Luckily not only I liked my design, but my friend loved it too. What do you think? And what about the lovely dust bag? I love to hear from you! And do you have any suggestions which master I should choose next?
