Do you use a bag to functionally carry all your groceries or do you carry it as an accessory? Today we will discuss this topic to evaluate all the different purposes of leather bags.
Shopping Bag
In the Netherlands, we don’t receive paper bags but plastic bags at the grocery stores or fashion stores etc. Although, since a little while we have to pay a little extra for our plastic bags in all shops over the country. If you ask me, it’s a good thing. First of all, people are less attracted to use plastic bags but secondly we can use our leather shopping bag instead! What could be a more functional statement than a leather shopping bag? We have seen it at Cloës’ (paper) lunch bag or at ‘Mypaperbag’ that a leather bag could be of a great help with carrying our products. It won’t tire as easily as plastic/paper bags, you can use it again and again, we don’t have a stack of plastic bags in our house (I used to forget those to take with me so it piled up) and looks great as well.
Stylish vs Functional
That brings me to the second point. It could be very functional although most of the time I could take a lot smaller bag with me to carry all my belongings. Some people even ask me ‘where does that bag go to with that girl?’ haha. I love my big shopper of Fred de la Bretonnier ‘Shabbies’ just as a statement bag. Besides I should not completely fill it otherwise it will feel if I carry the whole world on my shoulders. Not only shopping bags are functional and good looking. Last year the bag pack made a comeback into the fashion world. It used to be a functional bag for high school or to travel the world with one set of clothes but nowadays it is also just used as a fashionable bag to take to festivals or for a day shopping.
A perfect solution if you ask me, functional & stylish. For what kind of purpose do you take your bag with you? When you buy/make one do you take function also into account? Later more on designing a bag but first let me know what you think about this matter! Should we go for stylish, functional or both?
