Every year, with the beginning of the festival season I find myself looking for the perfect festival bag. I have gathered a lot of bags over the years but I have never found thé festival bag. In my option it should be small enough to carry with you all day long, you should be able to make some dance moves. Besides that, it should also be big enough to carry your belongings like your sunglasses, a phone, a wallet and maybe a little shaw when it cools down later on the day. I think, with the latest bag trend, the circle bag, I might have found my festival bag. I could, of course, buy one, but as you know I like a challenge, so let’s make one.
Designing the circle bag
As you know I have my ten step design plan. So before I will be making anything I start with looking for inspiration, designing and making a paper version of it so see if all the measurements are correct. I wanted to add a little bit more to the standard circle bag, this time. I am not the typical boho chick but for the summer months, I do like the braiding or lacing of the leather bags. Although, I have never done this before but you might have seen a little example on my Instagram story, and I like it.
This will not be the only new technique. In this bag, I will be able to apply and try a lot of new features. Such as, how does leather react when I sew it in a round shape. I will be adding a little buckle on the straps… (maybe I will make my own belts in the future…if I succeed with this belt like strap). Maybe I even add a little zipper, to close the bag but this is also a quite new challenge for me.
Inspiration Pinterest Board
If you have followed my blog for quite some time you will know by now that I loooove Pinterest. I use it for my inspiration, and to look at different details of bags. My board for the circle bag has been there already for quite some time but I finally have the time to actually make the bag. It always takes some time to process the ideas and the design in my head before it all ends up in my sketchbook and later on, on the leather hide. What do you think of the circle bag trend and what’s your favourite festival bag? I will keep you up to date on the blog but if you want to see more don’t forget to follow me on Instagram @florineleatherandstyle. See you soon!
