Are you ready yet or did you forget….? Nooo, you didn’t right? Because tomorrow is valentines day! Well, I am ready. This year all I wanted for valentines day is a big bouquet of flowers. I just couldn’t wait so I’ve made some leather ones already. Inspired on the spring to come I’ve made some designs with bags with flowers (soooo original…). But the devil is in the details. I don’t make it myself too easily. I always want to learn more and more. In this Valentine clutch there are some new techniques… can you spot them yet?
The first new technique was to make some leather flowers. Though how I made them could you see in the previous post. All that was left was to figure how the layout, the amount and where to punch the holes. I’m sure you can figure that out, right?
2. COVERED BUTTON OR DOUBLE LAYER?
I was struggling with the fact that I did want to be able to close the clutch, but I didn’t want the big golden snap rivet to ruin my one colour, the red bouquet of flower – Valentine Clutch design. So what to do…? In this case, I chose for the double layer but actually because I didn’t know how to cover a snap rivet… Do you know how to? Or should I try to figure it out and write a post about it…? Well, let me know if you like to read about that!
The third and for me most important technique was to learn how to make gussets… You know those little side pieces with a rounded bottom. Actually, it wasn’t that hard but maybe because I did some thorough research online and read about it in my leathercraft technique books. You know what… I will already spoil the surprise but I did make some making of photo’s while practising the gussets. That will be the post this Thursday! So you should definitely come back then!
I wish you all a happy Valentines day, and don’t worry if you couldn’t find your valentine in time, you can always make your own very big red bouquet of flower – Valentine Clutch. Or just to spoil yourself every now and then, right ladies? And most important of all, check out the blog this Thursday for a new technique. See you soon XOXO!
