With the begin of June it almost the middle of the year… WHAT … yes, the time flys when you’re having fun. Let’s check our New Years’ Resolutions and what to do the next half of the year 2017.
It might be a little early to look back at your New Years’ Resolutions. Although, I check it at the end of the year and I’ve only accomplished only a few of my resolutions there wouldn’t be any time left. To therefore a ‘half year check up’.
First a little reminder for myself…:
New Years’ Resolutions 2017:
1. Find out how to add a lining in bags properly.
Alright, I have to admit… I have already accomplished some of them but not all of them yet! In my most recent design (some of you might already have spotted it on my Instagram story) which I am designing in secret… I am making a full pig skin lined bag. No just kidding, nothing secret but I will collect some photos of the making of…
2. Find the latest trends for all the seasons to come in the fashion weeks
The last trends for all seasons are covered for now. You can check out the Spring Summer trends of 2017 (current trends) and some DIY inspiration over here, and here. Of course are the autumn/winter trends already spotted on the runways and covered in this post.
3. Cover 4 designers and their history or style
I have only discussed only 1 designer this year, Fred de la Bretonnier, in this post. But if you have any requests, I would love to hear it. The next 3 designers will have to be discussed in the next 6 months…
4. Get my own leather stamp
The next resolution was and is something I am really proud of, my own leather stamp. Not only have I ordered one, I have also found the Kingsley Stamping machine to stamp it with! Want to know more about the stamp or the Kingsley Stamping machine, check out these posts, here and here.
5. Make my first money on a (personalised) product
Well, I am maybe after all, not the best business woman yet, and to be honest also a little scared to put my product out there… but with my soon to open ‘pop-up facebook shop’ I hope I can make someone happy with one of my products I make with much love!
6. Hit the 100 readers on my blog.
Even though I do love everyone who takes the time to read my posts not enough readers have found my blog to cross the next new years’ resolution off my list. So if you like to help my a little bit with this one… I would love you to share my page or posts on Facebook, Instagram!
7. Design a whole collection line of products
Designing a whole collection might be a little exaggerated but with the laptop case, leather desk pad and the padfolio I have designed a mini stationary collection. Besides the stationary collection, there will be an addition of a travel tag to the travel essentials DIY’s collection. To much ideas for other collections but too little time in a day…
8. Give a try on box stitching
Oh yeah, I did give the box-stitching a try as you can see in my valentines gift for my lover in this post, the watch-box. Before I try a new technique, I do my usual research on the internet, and this technique would be really hard to master. Well, to ‘master’ is something I can relate to, but it isn’t so hard that you shouldn’t try it. So for everyone who’s willing to learn a new technique, check out this post over here!
9. Create a DIY-instruction kit for followers for free
Right now there is just too less request for a DIY instruction kit. Please correct my if I’m wrong because I would love to make one. But for now, I am not sure if I will keep it on my new years’ resolution list…
10. Make one product especially for myself to learn more
During my last shopping trip to the leather shop, I found the perfect piece of leather. I am just in love with it! This will be the piece for my very own project…. But for now, I still have to work on the design.
11. Add some leather ideas to my interior (leather desk pad, leather coasters, leather boxes, leather handles etc.)
Last but not least… my additions of leather to my interior have been, for now, an awesome leather desk pad… and that’s it. So this might be something to keep in mind because I still love the look, the robust feeling and durable material of leather in my interior.
How are your new years’ resolutions comming along? I couldn’t stripe them all off my list but we still have half a year to come… I love to look back at all those projects but I am even more curious to what will come! Stay tuned for much more projects, DIYs and designers.
